Departure Information

Whether you’re looking forward to snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef or simply soaking up the sun on the sands of Whitehaven or Airlie Beach, OzSail can make it happen. Once your holiday plans are made, you’ll want to be sure your departure information is accurate and up-to-date. We can help.

Check-In

Guests who are travelling on Avatar or Mandrake and who have received an online check-in email with a prompt to log in, check in here.

Otherwise, ensure that you check in at our Reservations Office, located at Shop 3, 398 Shute Harbour Rd. (see map below) at any time between 8:30am and 9:30am on the day of your departure, or between 12pm and 4pm the day before. This is when you will have your boat briefing.

During the briefing, all you’ll need is your ticket. We’ll give you a boarding pass, a map, a list of items you’ll need, and other pertinent information. From there, you’ll have 2 hours to gather your things and meet back up at the Marina for departure!

Bags

Only small, carry-on-sized bags will be permitted aboard the boats. If you need to store larger bags, your local accommodation should be able to provide this for you; however, if that is not available to you, we do have some storage available at our check-in office.

Diet

We can cater to any specific dietary requirements. Just be sure to let us know what they are beforehand!

Beverages

Drinking water will be supplied onboard – make sure you’re drinking enough in the hot sun! All other beverages and alcohol must be brought by guests.

Glass/Plastic

Please do not bring any glass or plastic bags aboard our vessels. These can easily make their way overboard and damage the sensitive ecosystems we sail through.

Seasickness

Consult your doctor and/or pharmacist if you are worried about seasickness onboard. They will provide you with consultation and medication if necessary.

Sunscreen and Hat

Sunstroke and dehydration are both very real risks in the blistering Whitsundays heat. Ensure you have an appropriate amount of sunscreen, fresh water, and shade (i.e., hat) available to you. Sunscreen should be applied every 2 hours and have the appropriate SPF (30+).

Travel Insurance

We strongly suggest all guests acquire travel insurance before their OzSail Whitsundays tour. In the unlikely event that anything goes wrong, you don’t want to be left without coverage.

Weather

Weather in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is tropical and HOT! Temperatures will exceed 35 degrees Celsius with 100% humidity. Be prepared.

Departure Times

Although we try to ensure that our departure times are always exact, we cannot control for variables such as weather, mechanical issues, and other unforeseen obstacles. Plan for a departure time within 3 hours of what we have listed.
