Essential Predeparture Information
Check In When you arrive in the Whitsundays, please mak sure you check in with us to complete all necessary paperwork and pay any balances due. Our check in desk in located at Level 2/293 Shute Harbour Road, Airlie Beach, QLD. We are upstairs from Brumby's Bakery. Check In can last approximately 30 minutes. Dietary Reuirement In order for us to cater for dietary requirements, we must be informed prior to you departing on your Whitsunday sailing holiday.
What to Bring Because of limited storage space on our vessels, we ask that you bring everything you need for your Whitsunday sailing holiday in a small soft bag. We recommend you limit yourself to the following:
- Light clothing
- Warm clothing in cooler months (May - September)
- Swimsuit
- Hat
- Sunscreen (Available to purchase at our Check In Desk. We highly recommend 30+)
- Bath Towel/Beach Towel (Available to hire at our Check In Desk)
- Sunglasses
- Insect Repellent (Available to purchase at our Check In Desk)
- Favourite Music (CDs)
- Alcohol, Soft Drinks (no glass please)
- Waterproof Camera/Film (Available to purchase at our Check In Desk)
- Certified divers, please remember your certification cards.
What Not to Bring
- Glass bottles
- Sleeping bags or pillows
- Electrical Equipment (computers, ipods, etc)
- Cash, passport, travel documents
OzSail is not responsible for any property you take on board our vessels. In particular, we strongly encourage everyone to take waterproof cameras rather than expensive digital cameras. Your electrical equipment will be ruined if it comes in contact with seawater.
Alcohol All Ozsail vessels are BYO and alcohol should be purchased prior to arriving at the vessel. There is a bottle shop at Abel Point Marina.
Soft Drinks, Bottled Water & Snacks
- We provide tea, coffee, cordial and tap water on all our vessels. If you would like soft drinks or bottled water, please bring them with you as we do not sell anything onboard.
- All meals are included however if you think the fresh sea air might make you extra hungry, please feel free to bring some snacks onboard.
- There are no shops when sailing in the Whitsundays, so if you are a smoker please remember to bring enough cigarettes to last you 3 days!
Snorkelling Gear Masks, fins and snorkels are all included in the price of your Whitsunday sailing holiday.
Lycra Suits & Wetsuits to May is our official stinger season, so hiring a stinger suit during this time is highly recommended. These cost $15 for the duration of your holiday with us and are available when you get to the marina. During our winter season, you have the option of hiring a wetsuit. These cost $15 for the duration of your holiday with us and are available when you get to the marina.
Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Levy Anyone entering the Marine & National Parks area is responsible for Marine & National Park Levies & an administrative fee totalling $33. This will be collected prior to your departure at the OzSail Check In Desk and is broken down as follows:
EMC: $5.00 per day QPWS: $1.45 per day ADMIN: $4.14 per day GST (ADMIN): $.41 per day
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the world's greatest natural wonders and everyone here at OzSail supports the efforts made to manage and protect it. All passengers travelling to the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef are required to pay a government tax which goes towards the conservation of the Great Barrier Reef. Through such efforts, we hope to be able to continue to provide fantastic sailing and scuba diving holidays to the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef!
Travel Insurance We strongly encourage all guests to travel with travel insurance with coverage for the following situations:
- Damaged property (You will be on a boat surrounded by seawater!)
- Medical emergencies including Ambulance cover
- Travel Cancellation & Interruption
