Hook Island Anchorages
The natural harbours on Hook Island include Stonehaven (West), Nara Inlet (South), and Macona Inlet (South).
Each offers a safe and secure haven to boats in all but the most severe conditions.
They serve as excellent overnight anchorages for the OzSail fleet, the quiet and calm conditions allowing for a good night's sleep before setting sail again in the morning.
At the Northern end of Nara Inlet, a short walking track leads the mildly adventurous to a cave site featuring aboriginal paintings. As the track is climbed, superb views of this beautiful inlet will unfold.
Stonehaven anchorages feature wonderful coral formations, well worth a snorkel if time allows.
Another location often visited by our fleet is the Hook Island Underwater Observatory.
Here you will have a chance to meet the marine life, face to face, without even getting your feet wet. |
